More GoPro Run Testing

Posted by on April 3, 2014

Last Saturday I took the GoPro on a 20 mile run. The first 6 miles were with my son. I managed to get some decent footage along the way of the greater Des Moines area. I even managed to get in a little trail running. The trails were still too wet for mountain biking but running on them was not bad at all.

I wish I could eliminate more of the motion bouncy when running. A chest and the head mounts are even more jumpy. Filming footage hand-held is about as good as I can get it. Surprisingly the least bouncy footage is when I face the camera at me when I run. I think it stabilizes it more or maybe it is an illusion having me so close and the background far way. I continue to learn that to shoot GoPro video I can’t capture anything that is small and more than 15 feet away. I ran by the Des Moines Rugby club and thought it would make for good video. The players were too far away so I cut that footage out. I continue to learn a little more with each outing. Enjoy the latest clip.

The camera’s looking good! Loved the shot with you in the statue. I’ve been thinking about picking up a Go Pro to use as a dashboard camera. Plus I wouldn’t mind having one to bring up Mt. Whitney this year!
