Hawkeye 25k/50k Route & Elevation

Posted by on March 13, 2012

This is the route and elevation for this weekend’s Hawkeye 25k and 50k race.   This is a 15 mile lap so one lap for the 25k’ers and two for the 50k racers.  I have not see an elevation profile yet for the race so I used GPS Visualizer to generate the elevation profile for me.  It looks to be some typical Iowa terrain.

There is a green arrow at every mile mark.

[gmap width=”100%” height=”400px” type=”terrain” static=”false” zoom=”auto” control=”roadmap,satellite,hybrid,terrain,navigation,streetview,scale” file=”http://www.persistenthunter.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/H50k.kml”]

Elevation profile looks to be a lot of little hills up and down. That is pretty typical for Iowa. I am sure it will get me huffy and puffing despite it not having anything too crazy. At mile 11 there is a water crossing. Mile 11 is the second most left arrow. You can see we cross a little sliver of land at that point. I guess the water is high so we are planning to get our feet wet and maybe up to the knee. Looks like a fun time!

That looks like a fun run! Love the mix of hills in it to keep things interesting. Curious if there are any sketchy parts of the trail that’s notorious for twisting ankles.
